Ertel & Associates led the development and sales of the new Body Glove Pet line for CWIC Inc, the supplier of Body Glove swim and aquatic gear (snorkels, masks, fins, goggles, etc). Led the team to develop existing and new businesses and expand our brand portfolio with new and exciting license acquisitions.

Leader of turnaround for new division of a Pet, Toy and Home products manufacturer, doubling sales projections within 12 months: Directed product, marketing and sales strategy for the newest division of a $70 million organization. In this leadership role, managed the development of dozens of new items, negotiated licensing partnerships with major brands, and trained a top tier team.

Led the team responsible for nearly $115 million in sales (>25% of total company volume). Reversed the sales trend in Fitness & Health category to +30% from -10%, introduced innovative promotions to categories to create positive trend, and led the development of new Home products. Also managed the new focus on the Pet category.

Managed all aspects of the $200 million business including sales, margin%, margin $, visual merchandising, product development, private label and import penetration (traveled extensively). Planned monthly Advertising, including Monthly circular, in-store promotions and Secondary displays. Worked with Licensors such as MTV/Nickelodeon, Discovery Channel & National Geographic.Was chosen by senior management to manage the transition process and total merchandise plan for Petco’s first major acquisition in more than a decade. In 2006, represented the retail pet industry in Washington DC to partner with governmental agencies in development of policies.

Managed team that innovated processes such as Category Reviews and Planogram production through the use of software and standards of merchandising excellence. Implemented and created various innovative and vendor supported display changes, from end cap signage to open-product live displays.
