Assistant Brand Manager- Glidden Paints

Amsterdam, Noord Holland, Nl

This was my first brand centric role and an awesome experience.I helped define the brand’s merchandising, collateral, and social media efforts for the Home Depot. I helped create marketing initiatives in support of the Team Colors program and created several national ads for in-stadium magazines. In this role I also started writing copy for the Glidden brand. My copywriting skills were sharpened as I wrote all the brochures still found in the Home Depot. I learned more about brand voice, style guides, and visual standards than I thought possible! I was fortunate enough to learn from the best about building a brand. Who doesn't love a good branding story?!

Brand Marketing Intern

Amsterdam, Noord Holland, Nl

This internship involved supporting the Glidden brand marketing team.I helped in the creation of displays, catalogs, and sales materials. I also assisted with promotion tracking and competitor research. In this role I became well versed in preparing presentations, speaking publicly, communicating effectively. There was also an extensive competitive review that I created and presented to upper management. All of these activities were in the midst of a huge re-branding for Glidden. We helped successfully turn-around a negative slide for the Glidden brand. Without the hard work of the team, the Glidden brand may have lost some very important retailer accounts.

It was a great experience that taught me about the lucrative and unique advantages of blogs and social networks. My nerd skills also doubled while I was here! I would recommend that every young professional learn as much as they can about computers and the languages that run them. It's a digital world and if you can't understand the basics, you will get left behind.
