We focus on genetic pediatric disorders in the Amish and Mennonite community. I support and participate in those efforts both in a key administrative leadership role.Since 2014, I have worked in conjunction with a core leadership team to provide clinical, laboratory, research, and educational services to patient families. This includes direct oversight of accounting, development, human resources, marketing and communications, and administrative staff. As a direct report to our Board of Directors, I work with the Board chair to develop agendas and supporting materials. I work with our staff team to develop annual operational and capital budgets, provide financial management, develop marketing and communication plans, manage strategic planning, ensure robust fundraising from major donors and events, ensure legal compliance and intellectual property protection, develop HR policies, monitor compliance with investment strategies, provide IT management, determine insurance limits, and ensure the proper maintenance of buildings and grounds.During my nearly ten years as Executive Director, I have overseen an approximate 250% increase in staff, 300% increase in net assets, and all aspects of a $13.3 million capital campaign to build a new facility. The organization also built capacity for conducting advanced clinical trials for gene therapy products in phase 1, 2, and 3 and has been internationally recognized for its impactful role in rare disease identification, research, and treatment. I perform various lab assays such as: Sanger DNA sequencing, next generation sequencing, targeted mutation detection by melting curve analysis, primer design and exome sequencing data analysis. In addition to my lab responsibilities, I also serve as a HIPAA officer, manage and coordinate clinical and laboratory research projects and the student researcher/fellowship application process.

I maintained a HPLC which I used to perform amino acid analysis by plasma or a DBS. I maintained a GC/MS which I used to analyze urine/plasma organic acids. I maintained lab records used for CLIA re-certification and state inspections. I also extracted DNA primarily from whole blood samples. I also designed oligonucleotide primers and performed candidate gene sequencing.

My primary responsibilities included: caring for Biology department animals, shipping and receiving, and general laboratory support. In addition I made solutions, tended department technology and other projects as needed.

• Provided direct supervision for three student workers including making schedules and supplying relevant training.• Managed events and audio/visual equipment in three lecture spaces.• Created documentation to help users use college owned equipment.

• Provided technical support for lectures, presentations, and movies for college guests and organizations in a lecture space with a capacity of 150 people.• Acted as a liaison with speakers to identify and provide for needs.• Troubleshoot technical difficulties with audio and video systems.
