- Preparation of technical, development and clinical solid dose (tablets, capsules and powders) batches in accordance with current good manufacturing practice (cGMP). - Manufacturing and support operations in compliance with cGMP standards and the Quality Management System. - Recording experimental and manufacturing data, then processing details in laboratory notebooks and updating manufacturing records to the required standard. - Preparation, setup and cleaning of experimental and manufacturing equipment. - Assisting with the cleaning and maintenance of the GMP and development facilities. - Compliance with assigned standard operating procedures (SOPs). - Completion of batch records and cGMP documentation in line with expected standards.

As a band 5 Production Specialist, my primary responsibilities were to manufacture the liquid and mixed state pharmaceutical products (Intravenous solutions, eye drops, nasal sprays, gels and creams) and supervise the successful filling process by the sterile manufacturing team. Secondary responsibilities included: - Creation and amendment of work instructions and batch manufacturing records (BMRs) to guarantee adherence to MHRA and the governing bodies. - Overseeing the correct sterile cleaning methods were undertaken as per the product specific requirements. - Participation in asset management with co-operation from the validation team which ensures that equipment reaches its requirements as per installation qualification, operational qualification and performance qualification standards. - Voluntary involvement in being placed ‘on call’ 5 days a week (including supervising Saturday shifts once per month), to ensure production output requirements were met.

Working within a company renowned as the world leader in ceramics technology my role involved combining high level laboratory practice with a wide range of essential Health and Safety responsibilities. My duties included: - Undertaking a suite of testing procedures such as; using HPLC, IR spectroscopy, Mercury Intrusion Porosimetry, fluidity and viscosity rheology, particle size distribution analysis, carbon and sulfur analysis, modulus of rupture and cracking tolerance. - Communication of results and testing procedures to other IMERYS laboratories nationally and internationally. - Develop new and improve existing test procedures. - Maintaining Excel, Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and Lotus Notes databases. - Ensuring that all relevant safety data sheets (SDS) were compliant and that updated issues were distributed to the relevant parties. - Uploading the SDS to the Chemwatch database for new products and relevant CoSHH form filled out. - Ensuring that Risk Assessments were up to date and written in a detailed and concise manner. - Undertaking the lead in proposing and presenting ideas to customers, including multiple face to face meetings around the country, followed up with conference calls to solve any problems that they may face to create a tailor made product specifically engineered for their applications

- Sample Processing and Testing- Refining of samples within both the Laboratory and the Pilot Plant- Sample assignment for testing.
