I am responsible for ensuring the best execution for our clients by using best practices and the spirit and intent of the highest regulatory standards. In addition to meeting current best practices, our team looks forward to the future direction of trading practices and regulatory focus. This was demonstrated in our preparation for the shortening of trading cycles and the incorporation of industry best practices. We also established trading data analytics as an integral part of our team. Internally, I am a director of Baillie Gifford Overseas Ltd and Chair of our Regulatory Engagement Group. In this role, I engage closely with key executives inside Baillie Gifford, regulators, and global decision-makers on matters where we believe we can influence a positive outcome for the end investor. I also sit on our Best Execution Group and Equity Investment Risk Committee. I am well-connected in the industry. I am the current Chair of the Investment Association's Equity Trading Committee and was recently elected a member of the US-based National Organization of Investment Professionals.

Director, Head of TradingI led the London, Hong Kong and Seoul multi-asset trading desks, promoting a culture of ownership and responsibility to ensure the dealing team provides a complete service to Investment Managers. A keen participant in key industry initiatives, I worked closely with trade associations and global regulators to achieve gold-plate standards for the benefit of our clients. In this, I developed collegiate relationships with compliance, legal, and organisational risk. I sat on risk and regulatory in-house committees, including Dealing Oversight, Counterparty Credit, Custodian FX, and Research Procurement. I managed upward communication to achieve buy-in from senior management to identify talent and build a team of quality traders in each location. I took responsibility for all trading performance, mentoring traders to examine changes in market conditions and structure to develop new trading strategies. I promoted the introduction of electronic trading products and applications across asset classes. I later established a multi-asset centralised dealing desk in Seoul for Baring's Korean domestic asset management business.

London And New York

I built and successfully led a multi-asset trading desk in New York and London. Based in London and working between offices, I was responsible for the global trading of a wide range of multi-asset instruments, including equities, fixed income, FX, and derivatives. I used my extensive understanding of electronic trading to evolve innovative strategies that provide speed, anonymity, and control of order flow. I liaised with key senior personnel, including the Head of Operations, CIO, and COO, on a daily basis. I also worked closely with our Heads of Legal and Compliance, the latter of whom was formerly an SEC staffer. I became Chair of our Trade Management Oversight Committee, which is responsible for overseeing trading style, commissions, broker management, legal and compliance updates, prime brokerage, and swap financing. I was eventually promoted to the additional role of Manager of the London office, where I oversaw counterparty risk and relationship management. This became a critical role as the global financial crisis deepened.
