Do you remember the 70’s? I was just a thought in my parents minds when they founded The Vertical Connection in 1977. They were a young couple in need of a custom vertical blind for their home in Columbia, MD. Following sticker shock and unresponsive sales people at the national chains, my dad decided to contact his cousin in NY who happened to be a vertical blind manufacturer. A few measurements later & some brainstorming… The Vertical Connection Carpet One was born. My mom was both excited & anxious… "What if they’re unhappy and we bump in to them at a restaurant?!" On that day, my parents made a commitment to go above and beyond to ensure every customer is happy. 40+ years later, we still live by this rule today!Growing up, I wanted to start my own business or develop some amazing new invention. After finding success in the corporate world and zero success inventing something - I said to my parents “what do you think about working together?” I researched and learned about their industry, about Carpet One & about the opportunity to grow their business. Young(ish) and fearless, I quit my job at an investment bank, moved in with my parents and took no salary. I committed to not take a penny from the business until I earned it. From there, my journey began.We’ve grown to a team of 20+ of the best in the business. I couldn’t be prouder of each and every individual on our team.
