My role within Core BTS is in their Cloud Business unit exclusively focusing on Microsoft Azure projects. I work with a wide range of companies such as national retail companies, global IT businesses, global web hosting organizations, state governments, and public universities. I travel up to 100% of the time as needed.• Performed many Azure Cloud Foundation (ACF) projects that involved leading workshops that helped clients understand the different IaaS resources within Microsoft Azure so existing business methods and processes could be mapped from on-premises to Azure.• Numerous projects deploying multiple Azure landing zones utilizing Infrastructure as Code concepts within DevOps Pipelines.• Several projects implementing Azure Site Recovery and Azure Migrate within customers’ on-premises datacenters to inventory virtual machines. This led to organizing, planning, scheduling, and moving workloads from on premise to Azure IaaS.• Part of a global team to assist with mapping, designing, and implementing landing zones using DevOps Pipelines referring to spreadsheets as the template; planning, scheduling, and carrying out migrations of virtual machines for customers from a global proprietary hosting provider to Azure.• Worked with a large team to build an extremely enormous greenfield implementation of SAP designated Virtual Machines with associated resources in Azure. In time the client would migrate their existing SAP data from on-premises to Azure. This environment was created via company proprietary Infrastructure as Code PowerShell, Azure Resource Manager templates, and JSON templates via Microsoft DevOps. In the end there were over 500 SAP related servers along with many Virtual Networks, Load Balancers, HANA Large Instances, Proximity Placement Groups, and Availability Groups/Zones in Azure all following Microsoft and SAP best practices with governed naming standards.
  • Breakfree Solutions
    Microsoft Cloud Solution Architect
    Breakfree Solutions Jan 2017 - Jan 2019
    Chicago, Illinois, Us
While at BreakFree Solutions, I was able to exclusively focus and work on projects where I was able to move organizations into Azure and Office 365 by acting as both a loyal advisor and performing the migration work. I traveled up to 100% of the time as needed.• Worked in a group SCRUM team to architect, build, and deploy custom Azure environments to meet the needs of internal teams’ products that were either being migrated from an on-premises data center or as a greenfield environment in Azure. • Consistently reviewed external regulations and internal polices with clients, then developed Azure governance standards. • Creation and upkeep of Azure Resource Manager Templates that were utilized to deploy Azure resources and services while maintaining Infrastructure as Code releases.• Engineered reliable and repeatable Azure Automation tasks to offload work that was performed manually in the past.• Worked within PCI compliance standards when architecting solutions when needed.• Hands-on experience mapping client Security Controls to Microsoft Cloud Services and ensuring approval by the clients.• Handled planning, design, testing, communications, and migration of all on-premises Exchange mailboxes to Exchange Online.• Collected existing business requirements and processes from non-Microsoft mail services and mapped them to Microsoft Office 365 native services. Using Intune MAM, conditional policies, and DLP, the client was able to retire multiple hardware and software, thus saving significant costs. The hardware and software retired was Good, AirWatch, Symantec, and Cisco IronPort. • Held multiple workshops that involved many stakeholders to determine if moving to Microsoft’s Cloud is the right option for an organization. This included financials, timelines, and detailed work to be done based on the uniqueness of the organizations’ environment.
  • Catapult Systems
    Senior Lead Consultant
    Catapult Systems Mar 2004 - Feb 2017
    Austin, Tx, Us
Working for Catapult Systems for over a decade, I’ve been exposed to a very wide range of Microsoft products, technologies, and projects. It was an exciting time to see how much Azure and Office 365 evolved and it was even more exciting to assist organizations in utilizing Microsoft’s Cloud. I traveled up to 100% of the time as needed.• Worked with a team to develop and deploy a self-service Azure lab environment before Microsoft released DevTest Labs in Azure. This consisted of incorporating SharePoint, Pre-Resource Manager Azure, Orchestrator, and PowerShell together to spin-up Azure Virtual Machines and their related environment. There were also automated processes developed to notify users and tear down their environment as part of the clean-up process. • Successful Proof of Concept working with Azure User Defined Routes when it first came out to see if next generation firewall virtual machines can be utilized in Microsoft Azure without having to install VPN clients on each virtual machine in Azure. • Numerous projects regarding AD Connect/DirSync. In multiple cases, the customers’ environment and requests needed a unique solution that was successfully delivered. • Multiple large-scale domain migrations encompassing users, service accounts, workstations, and servers that were in-scope for the project. In some cases, major security violations were discovered and remedied after client approved of suggested recommendations. • Multiple operating system deployments using Configuration Manager. The largest involved a financial institution spanning multiple states. The single task sequence worked with fifteen different models of workstations backed up, new operating system deployed, appropriate applications installed, and the users’ data restored.
