Selection Sunday for the NCAA Tournament in 2004 was the start to one of the most exciting weeks of my life. As a student manager for Dayton's Men's Basketball Team, I was tasked with helping our coaches prepare game video for our potential second round game against UConn. I worked 28 straight hours watching tapes and helping out at practice. We lost in the first round in double overtime and never played UConn… I didn’t care that all my hard (and probably sub-par after the 4am mark or so) work was for naught. It was simply amazing to be part of one of the biggest sporting events on the planet. My whole life I have been eager to support people as they take on huge challenges, whether that be a basketball team, an exciting organization, or a determined group of friends. I know when it is my turn to dive-in headfirst, crank out quality work, or gently steer from the back. My interests range from thinking through strategic plans to discussing the impact of a company or nonprofit’s work, creating consistency across a team to nerding out on a good spreadsheet, a good cup of tea to the beauty of East Africa. Currently, I manage the finances and operations for two organizations/companies. At First Descents, our free outdoor adventures change the lives of 18-39 year olds impacted by cancer and other serious health conditions. And, at Stoke Broker, our life-defining adventures ignite impact and help further advance First Descents' mission.
