CurrentResponsibilities - Developing and implementing a strategic vision to finding new audiences for BBC Radio Leicester sport, widening the scope and quality of our output to be suitable for modern audiences. This includes managing content for radio, TV, online and social media. - Leicester Tigers commentator for BBC Radio Leicester, covering the team across the country, and host of the Leicester Tigers Rugby Show, the most popular club rugby podcast following one team in the country. - Leicestershire T20 commentator, and host of cricket podcast Talking Foxes, as well as football reporter covering Leicester City. - Implementing new social media and digital strategies to reach larger and underserved groups. - Exercising editorial judgment in developing story ideas, and producing accurate and impartial journalism in leading a small team of sports journalists and freelancers. - Managerial duties such as organising team rotas, talent spotting, training and development, sorting foreign trips, and managing relationships with local teams and colleagues at the BBC. - Continuing to produce and originate stories. Scripting, editing, outputting, filming and presenting content across a range of BBC output, and original journalism such as breaking the story of the sacking of the Leicestershire head coach.Achievements - Developed and launched the weeknight ‘Game Night’ programme, a new show focused on a more diverse range of sports and providing social media content with linear programming. - Mentoring three young women to become fully fledged broadcast journalists, reading bulletins, presenting programmes and reporting live. One has gone on to get a job with BBC Sport. - Developing and changing podcast content to reach wider audiences. Episodes are now shorter and more precise, and have record listener figures in the past six months. The When You're Smiling podcast, which I oversee, is now the most popular podcast in local radio.
