As a director of design in a very new organization, I work with a team that meets weekly to make decisions to enhance and grow the program. I spearheaded a hiring process that attracted over 200 applicants and led to a team of over 90 motivated students with a focus in AI and machine learning. There are currently 19 teams of four to five members working on a wide variety of machine learning and data science projects, many of which are working with external partners to gain valuable experience in a professional setting. I create managerial and technical resources to be used by project managers and members on the team. Additionally, I help lay the framework to aid in the completion of successful projects and oversee a section of 6 teams, assessing risk and providing guidance into their projects specifically. I am on my second year leading a project with a team of four. This year as my main project portfolios, I am concentrated on sabermetrics and hockey analytics, specifically predictions for scouting top players. I chair two weekly meetings, where the focus is on skill development and team collaboration. We work with python libraries such as Keras, Pandas, Numpy and many more, to visualize and prepare data, model problems and draw conclusions from the results. Code is worked on in Jupyter notebooks and shared using git practices.

The product was in the very early stages of development when I joined the team. We were faced with priorities changing on a week-to-week basis, which required flexibility and hard work to meet the demands of the client. I work on a team using python and a selenium backend to create profiles for scraping piracy sites for metadata and links, associated to pirated content. Our team works in an agile environment and uses standard software development practices such as code reviews and git version control. I am responsible for reviewing code and giving feedback on readability, functionality and the quality of code. Additionally, I was responsible for creating automation scripts, that use mysql queries and API calls, to monitor the health of the product. These scripts are ran weekly and are used to determine priorities and give the team insight into product bugs and profile functionality.
