This work required interfacing with the product team, sales team, operations, sales leadership, and senior management. Adam managed that group of diverse stakeholders effectively and efficiently. Second, in addition to coordinating stakeholders to get buy-in on a complex project, Adam showed the ability to manage the complexity of a project with detailed investigation, thoughtful planning, and patience. Adam’s assignment required that he first understand existing software platforms and their limitations. He then developed a path to a solution from within existing constraints. Along the way, Adam communicated clearly with project participants, giving them adequate lead time to complete projects, providing targeted feedback on first drafts, and articulating a clear timeline for completion. Third, Adam demonstrated the ability to keep a group on task during meetings. He knew where to concede ground, where to dig in, and how to prevent the group from being derailed by topics that weren’t relevant. This skill reflects Adam’s ability to really clarify a goal, and not get confused by things that may be related to but not critical features of the end he has in mind. Not a lot of people are good at running meetings, and this is an essential skill in organizations that value collaboration but also rely on timely execution. Finally, as the capstone to his internship, Adam provided a balanced and detailed assessment of a key market segment, providing a thoughtful overview of the current market landscape, a charitable assessment of competitors, next steps to win in the market segment, and a financial analysis of what winning would look like. I suspect that Adam’s experience at Harvard Business School will refine his already impressive set of skills, and have no doubt that he will add significant value to any organization."
