Brightstar has deployed approximately $4,000,000 through 37 early-stage investments to date, creating an estimated 1,500 jobs and keeping the best and brightest people and companies in-state."Job Creation Through Capital Donation"The non-profit BrightStar Wisconsin Foundation is using a groundbreaking philanthropic approach to support job creation and economic growth across Wisconsin through investment in early-stage companies. This new approach will enable the formation of new investment capital in Wisconsin through charitable donations to the foundation. BrightStar Wisconsin saw a void to be filled in the job creation space. BrightStar’s founders felt that if given a donation vehicle that was singularly dedicated to growing the Wisconsin economy through job creation, Wisconsinites everywhere would step up and contribute. They were right.Our model is simple, we accept donations into our 501(c)(3), and then use those funds to make equity investments into early stage companies that create jobs. Once a company has an exit event, we put the funds back into our Foundation to invest in more companies. Contributions to BrightStar are tax deductible. Brightstar has formed partnerships with Gener8tor, a business accelerator program, backed by the Greater Milwaukee Committee and pioneered by and supported by Babson College faculty.
