My passion is using innovation and ingenuity to craft holistic solutions to human problems. My current focus is Civera -- creating software products to improve government transparency and public engagement with vital civic data. I derive daily inspiration from our amazing team, our public sector customers, and the strong community of policy advocates and fellow entrepreneurs moving civilization forward every day. I am both a generalist and a technician -- a passionate leader who loves to execute strategy and vision; and a quiet practitioner who loves working out the thorny details of a hard problem. I love learning from my team and watching as my colleagues and friends grow and evolve together, doing our best work and having a blast doing it. I try every day to inspire a culture of passion, excellence, accountability, and results.I am a creative and relentless senior web software architect. Most recently focusing on React, Node, and Postgres, most of my past software engineering experience has been on LAMP. I work on the full stack and beyond -- from usability analysis, graphic design, and UI/UX development; to architecture and programming of web application code; to scalable relational database design; to server architecture and administration. I am devoted to crafting human-centered and performant design and technology solutions to meet real business and public interest needs.I have also served as a leading organizer in the national movement for better voting -- specifically, ranked choice voting, a.k.a. instant runoff voting. In 2020, I founded the national organizing project, Rank the Vote, secured seed funding, and directed it for the first 1.5 years. Before that, in 2016, I founded, built, and directed Voter Choice Massachusetts for its first 2.5 years, positioning it as the largest statewide effort for ranked choice voting in the United States.
