My career started in production. I had the opportunity to learn from several different leaders at different levels of management. Each leader had strengths that I was able to draw from. They all were trying to achieve similar goals; increase quality, increase production, reduce cost.When I transitioned to accounting from production, I had similar opportunities to work with great leaders. They were always teaching me things to make me a better accountant. They expanded on similar skills; how to increase the quality of my work, how to work efficiently, and how to minimize wasted time "spinning wheels". I've been fortunate to work with great leaders that were willing to share their secrets about business. They all had things in common. The main qualities they shared was they were always listening and always assessing. They didn't just talk to me in order to train me. They listened and they assessed my situation to determine what training I needed. I strive to become the leader that has a high level of listening skills as well as assessment skills.
