As a product manager, I was able to hire two product owners and take a product leadership role for the first time. I am a key driver behind Xero's public API strategy and have the opportunity to contribute to Xero's overall platform strategy. Over this time, I lead the migration from our legacy OAuth 1.0a API platform to our new OAuth 2.0 platform. The benefits of the new platform were huge, but it affected tens of thousands of developers and hundreds of thousands of API connections. I also lead the development and release of "Sign in with Xero" which has now been implemented by dozens of our top app partners and is used by tens of thousands of our customers.

Working across multiple teams, I was the driving force behind a new public API framework that allowed product teams at Xero (payroll, projects, banking etc.) to expose their services as public APIs. We also rebuilt our developer portal from the ground up, transitioned our monolithic API into a microservices architecture, migrated to AWS and rolled out webhooks for third-party developers. Additionally, I took on the team lead role for the API support team which was spread across NZ, the UK and the US.

Initially, my role at Xero revolved mainly around growing the functionality available in the core accounting API. It was a challenging introduction to API design coupled with a complicated accounting domain. I was gathering feedback from third-party developers, prioritising requests into a backlog and working with a team of five engineers to deliver those API features. A big part of my role was writing public documentation, tutorials, videos etc. to increase awareness and drive adoption of the Xero API.

Worked within the PMO as part of the Digital Business Programme. The programme scope included all digital interactions between AXA and end customers (websites, email, mobile, data feeds). I was part of a team of 3-4 business analysts although often worked as the sole BA on different project initiatives. I was constantly working with large project teams of developers, testers and architects as well as external consultants. I also had the opportunity to work with external and internal end users. 1. Adviserweb/clientweb Programme – Business Analyst• Worked in agile web development projects to enhance an external facing web portal. This included single sign-on to third party websites and the development of an integrated secure messaging system.• Worked with end-users (clients and financial advisers) through interviews and usability testing• Generated (functional/non-functional) requirements• Ran requirement gathering workshops with internal stakeholders• Performed business process analysis on internal email services and procedures• Executed a change management plan to support the release of a new client portal 2. Platform Consolidation Project – Business Analyst• An AUD$40m migration to move all investment platform products from a legacy mainframe system to a new web based system.• Focusing on existing websites performed a detailed gap analysis between current and future states.• Created an options pack for presentation to the programme steering committee including recommendations for ongoing web strategy.

I was selected for AXA’s two year graduate program as a business analyst working in the PMO. As part of the program I had the opportunity to rotate through a variety of business areas and teams. I was working constantly with developers, testers and business stakeholders/end users. I worked in projects with large teams (20 people) down to very small teams (myself and the PM). These included:1. Website Consolidation Project – Business Analyst/QA Analyst• Worked on the Website Migration Project that combined functionality from multiple external websites into a single web portal for clients and financial advisers.• Quality checked acceptance criteria and automated test scripts• Designed, planned and executed test cases using HP Quality Centre• Managed defects and supported product testing• Developed and implemented a UAT test plan2. Financial Protection Program - Business Analyst• Worked as the sole business analyst on various projects and initiatives aimed at customer retention in individual life insurance. The main focus was the creation of the Insurance Definition Library (IDL) which was a CMS for use by internal and external users.• Collected and defined functional and non-functional requirements (including use cases and UML)• Completed change management activities including co-coordination of training, marketing and communications• Managed the migration of data from spreadsheets and hard copy document to the IDL• Managed requirements across third-party vendors and internal development teams• Business case development• Co-created a solution context document3. Individual Insurance Market Offer – Business Systems Analyst • Created functional and non-functional design documents for changes to the life insurance administration system CLAS. Changes included new product enhancements and regulatory requirements• Executed SQL queries and data analysis• Supported product and end user testing

As a member of the professional service team my role was to build and maintain customer relationships and to assist them with their Signature Software products. During my time I was part of a team of 3-4 level one support staff in an overall client services team of between 8-10 people. Together we serviced about 160 clients nationwide.Responsibilities:• Provided software consulting services including training and change management• Working onsite with customers to analyse their business processes to provide advice and training regarding their office software.• Responded to customer support calls (including 24 hour support)• Developing training guides and support materialsDuring my time I also worked on the following project: 1. Procedure Standardisation ProjectWorked with internal stakeholders to identify and map 24 key internal and client facing processes to create a repository of standard processes. This included the use of UML, activity diagrams and use cases.
