Note: I left the FTC to serve as a federal district court law clerk from August 2018-August 2019.I enforce the FTC Act and related consumer protection statutes and rules through federal court litigation. I plan, organize, and conduct federal court litigation by investigating targets through Civil Investigative Demands (investigative subpoenas); conducting consumer witness interviews and drafting third-party witness declarations; conducting research and drafting well-written, organized, and persuasive pleadings and motions; conducting all aspects of discovery, including written discovery, depositions, expert discovery, and discovery motions practice; appearing in court at hearings; and negotiating settlements. I have also served as a debt relief and credit repair subject matter expert for the agency; provided investigative targeting recommendations and advice on drafting pleadings; spoken at industry and regulatory meetings; and provided guidance to Bureau leadership on legislative and regulatory issues. I was awarded the FTC's 2017 Stephen Nye Award for outstanding litigation performance far exceeding that expected of a relatively new attorney.

I assisted the Judge in managing an extensive civil and criminal docket of over 400 cases. I drafted opinions and orders on complex legal and procedural issues, including the disposition of motions to dismiss, discovery disputes, motions for summary judgment, motions in limine, and post-trial motions. I attended and prepared for hearings and trials, including preparing voir dire and jury instructions.

Before being hired at the FTC full-time after graduating from law school, I worked as a summer law clerk, completing legal research and writing assignments to assist in investigations and ongoing litigation.

I researched and analyzed civil procedure issues and the Internal Revenue Code for appellate tax cases, including research on tax law and the Affordable Care Act and jurisdiction of U.S. territorial courts. I also helped prepare attorneys for oral arguments.

I interviewed potential clients who were elderly DC residents in danger of losing their homes due to unpaid property taxes and authored briefs on procedural defenses to foreclosure.

I worked as an analytical, business metrics, and marketing resource for team that worked with Housing Finance Agencies (HFAs) to provide affordable loans to low/moderate-income first-time homebuyers. One of my most important projects was managing HFA accounts for a $30 billion financial assistance package from the U.S. Treasury.
