In April 2016, I started working for the organization Medicine Education Africa (MEA) in northeastern Tanzania while still partnered with the US Peace Corps. I collaborated with non-profits, regional governments, and the private sector to begin a program of training the MEA community health workers to be certified to test and treat malaria in their respective villages. I trained nearly 200 community health workers to test and treat malaria in their respective villages. I collaborated with non-profits, regional governments, and the private sector to begin a program of training the MEA community health workers to be certified to test and treat malaria in their respective villages. I trained nearly 200 community health workers to test and treat malaria in their respective villages. Even in the program's infancy, the health workers will test and treat more than 40,000 people a year. I wrote and managed a budget of over $32,000 and also designed and co-constructed the organization’s website. Show less

I explored creative ways to present health education to community members. This improved my knowledge of the Swahili language and of Tanzanian culture which made my education projects progressively more effective.
