Bioinformatics PhD graduate with a decade of industry experience across Europe, split between my current role as senior bioinformatics researcher, trainer and software developer at ecSeq Bioinformatics GmbH, Germany, and my earlier role as a senior research scientist and GLP/GEP study director for a UK-based private research firm in the agricultural sector. These two roles are interspersed by a return to academia in 2015, where I since graduated with distinction (VG) from Lund University, Sweden, with a double major in MSc Bioinformatics and MSc Biology, before later graduating summa cum laude from Leipzig University, Germany, on my PhD topic "Advancing the analysis of bisulfite sequencing data in its application to ecological plant epigenetics".

In this project, we aim to investigate differences in DNA methylation dynamics between species with different life history traits. In close collaboration with other bioinformaticians and biologists, a best-practice pipeline for the analysis of plant bisulfite data will be developed, benchmarked, and provided to be applied to the Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) data generated in the frame of different EpiDiverse projects. In addition, novel algorithms will be devised and implemented to better detect DNA methylation variants and search for important methylation haplotypes to better understand the epigenetic regulation.
