The primary responsibility of the role is the preparation of the consolidated financial statements for the annual report and monthly reports for senior management. These tasks involve compiling information from subsidiaries based around the world, quality assuring the information received and providing technical support on more complex accounting issues.The role requires greater technical understanding than in previous roles due to the company a plc. More technical areas have included accounting for acquisitions, share options, equity fundraisers and the implementation of IFRS 16.In addition to the primary responsibilities I am responsible for ensuring UK corporation tax for the parent company, financial statements and tax for all the UK subsidiaries, as well as assisting on various adhoc projects.

The role initially focused on reviewing systems and looking for ways to make processes more efficient as well as assisting the new management team in getting a clearer idea of the global position and assessing the key priorities. The role now evolved with a greater focus on reviewing and managing the global cash flow of the group, acting as the primary finance contact for banking compliance and responsibility for producing statutory accounts for all UK registered companies including consolidated accounts.The position involved managing a small team directly and daily dealings with other offices around the world, including China and Silicon Valley.

I work in the public sector team, primarily working on the external audit of a variety of entities including NHS bodies, councils and pension funds. My responsibilities involve leading the audit team on site, planning the audits and liaising with the clients.In addition to working in external audit, I assist councils with grants and advisory work. From August 2016 I was on secondment at Bowers and Wilkins.
