I was responsible for or involved in IT issues across the business, including product development, partner integration, analytics and BI, hardware, sales, and HR operations. I was the product manager, owner, and implementer for internal systems.Compliance: helped lead Luminare's SOC 2 Type II audit. Designed and implemented policies and internal controls. Interfaced with auditors and security automation vendor (Vanta).Cybersecurity: implemented best-practices for email deliverability and security including SPF, DKIM, and DMARC monitoring and enforcement. Managed Microsoft 365 environment. Implemented MFA and SSO across the organization. Improved organizational protection against phishing. Secured and monitored endpoints via MDM.Healthcare IT (partner integration): managed Luminare's relationship and integration with ImmTrac, the Texas Immunization Registry. Managed and executed data quality improvement.Business Intelligence: implemented company's first BI platform, atop Metabase. System has been used to rapidly build and deploy custom dashboards for customers, without engineering effort.Growth engineering: supporting efforts to distribute Sagitta, a life-saving product for early detection and mitigation of sepsis.Business Technology (Corporate IT): supported Luminare's rapidly-scaling team with team-specific tool improvements and managed laptop deployment ops. Building an open-source CRM, business process, collaboration, and customer communication tool for B2B SaaS companies. Deeply integrating BI, and low- and no-code customization capabilities. Businesses that internally democratize software customization will outcompete everyone else. The cost of implementing custom software in businesses needs to come down dramatically, and can be achieved by bringing every user into a continuous and collaborative customization workflow.Completed research to understand the open spaces and opportunities in the market. Surveyed and studied the ecosystems around Clojure and cloud-native distributed datastores, in pursuit of ways to more quickly build reliable and observable distributed systems with minimal operational toil.

Texas International Import/Export is a distributor of designer beauty products, with significant wholesale, online retail, and online wholesale operations.I reported to the CEO/Founder. My role spanned the entirety of the business, including IT, online sales and marketing, warehouse operations, shipping/logistics, and software engineering. ★ Projects ★ ● Manages all aspects of the development and launch of NotJustPerfume.com, the company's new B2B wholesale website. ● Led the ecommerce operations team (2.5 employees) and the technology team (1 employee). ● Launched new retail sales channels: Walmart.com & Jet.com. ● Developed SEO/SEM strategy for NotJustPerfume.com. ● Halved postage expenses and increased margins by transitioning the primary shipping carrier from UPS to USPS to DHL eCommerce. Responsible for carrier selection, service selection, contract negotiation, and managing the carrier relationships. Decreased costs by renegotiating rates with the secondary carrier, UPS. ● Increased sales by selecting and managing the implementation of repricing technology on the company's retail channels. Among other initiatives, this led to a year-over-year doubling of order volume. ● Implemented technology and operational processes enabling the launch of the company's dropshipping services, including realtime inventory and order management with no CSV's required. ● Developed custom software to automate aspects of order management in Teapplix.com by extending Teapplix's capabilities. ● Doubled max fulfillment capacity (packages/day) by optimizing processes including order processing and packaging. Capacity doubled without growing the team; in fact, people had more time for other work even with the increase in throughput! ● Launched a transactional email campaign designed to increase customer satisfaction and reduce the incidence of poor seller ratings. Responsible for service provider selection, implementation, and copywriting.

Led a team of two engineering interns in the creation of a prototype iPhone application exploring the use of user-generated photos and mobile computer vision technology in collecting coupons.

Web developer on the team responsible for the integrated customer product portal. Developed and launched a web interface to a backend accounting system used to reward sales by distributors, replacing manual processes.

Established eRes, a new living-learning community for entrepreneurship at the University of Michigan. – Grew the community from concept to a 6-student pilot to 18 members over 3 years. – Collaborated with school administrators in University Housing, the College of Engineering, and Center for Entrepreneurship. – Created a new entrepreneurship course especially for eRes students. MPowered Entrepreneurship is a student organization at Michigan that works to expose students to entrepreneurship and support student ventures.

Cofounded Reason, a project exploring how to revolutionize news and discussion online, starting with politics, by taking ratings and using them to their greatest potential. Launched an alpha prototype and did not continue due to monetization concerns.

Owner, PAMI Productions, Audio/Visual Production and Technical Services Group. Provider of videography, video editing, and web development services, and technical support for users of Apple, Windows, and Linux desktops.Notable projects:– Filmed, edited, and produced a memento DVD for the 2007 JCC Maccabi Games. Managed multiple camera crews shooting at city-wide venues and shipped hundreds of DVDs to customers around the world.– Created EmeryCentral, a social networking website and online portal for my high school, from 2005-2008. Clubs could track and publicize their activities, teachers could hold class discussions online in the forums, and students could find their missing items in the digital lost-and-found inventory. The site was based on Drupal.
