Reporting systems have allowed confident prediction of spend and project delivery.Due to resignation of the dedicated projects controls role, at short notice I was asked to step in and develop the capital plan submission for 2023. I developed the potential project listings from our systems, workshopped with the site areas, and went through the scrubbing sessions with Rio Technical leads.Identified a significant deficiency with technology that was made obsolete over 10 years ago. Any failure of these systems could lead to catastrophic production losses with no access to new spares. Quickly projected that with the number of obsolete systems, compared to the time to run up a project, that the site will be exposed for 10+ years. Pushed through the processes to initiate the first stage of a $70M AUD program of works to remove this risk.

I have been responsible for various aspects of the project process to assist the site project team in design and implementation of a variety of projects. As further staff changes occurred, I was flexible enough to hand over or pick up other projects at various stages of completion.Projects included fast track design and installation of an overhead cement powder transfer line when the existing underground line failed, and management of the supply and installation of both the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering components of an electrical substation air conditioning project.

Sites were located in India, China and the Philippines. The role included visits to these sites to be involved in major design reviews and safety assessments of existing plants. I have also held the position of 'Lead Engineer' in a project to develop a greenfield site in China into a fully integrated manufacturing facility. I was responsible for all aspects of design for one of the processes, from building footprint & layout, through process designs & flows, to equipment design & operation. The role involved direction of resources at a Beijing based design institute, assert of potential Chinese equipment vendors, and working with selected vendors to ensure equipment net Australian, Chinese and Orica standards.
