About Adam Royce
Thanks for visiting my page. I like to explain stuff to non-techies, so consider this....Think of blockchain as a conveyor belt of fixed length. The belt is fed from one side with boxes, and keeps on loading boxes until the entire length is covered. For this reason, each total length of the belt is called a block, and once the entire block is filled, it gets stored, and a new, empty block becomes ready for more boxes. Since each block is exactly the same length, the connection of them together is seen as a chain, hence, Blockchain. For security reasons, a kind of snapshot is taken of the previous block, and encoded into the current block. This means that each block 'remembers' what the previous one looked like, meaning technically, you could track all blocks all the way to the very first one. The boxes on the belt are data, of any kind, from pictures to programs, and they can be of any length, including longer than the length of the conveyor belt (block) itself. If they (the data) are longer than the block, then the data will be cut at that end of each block, stored in successive blocks, and reassembled when needed, with no damage to the data. So blockchain is essentially a storage technology, like a database, with built-in integrity, and the ability to connect to other blockchains to share data.
