Blockdaemon is the global leader in blockchain infrastructure, wallet and staking technology for large financial institutions. I am the first lawyer hired in house and lead the legal, compliance and regulatory teams. Key Contributions: Develop and execute legal, regulatory and compliance strategy. Day-to-day lawyer on many business deals, employee issues and disputes.   Handle customer negotiations; draft bespoke contracts covering novel situations and to meet jurisdiction and industry specific requirements (especially banking/finance requirements).  Oversee IP portfolio and strategy with outside counsel, develop and implement patent program for engineers, significantly increasing the number of company patents. Create and implement global compliance program (including KYC/KYB, sanctions, reporting, etc), data privacy strategy (including compliance with GDPR, CPRA, and other data privacy standards) and the achievement of ISO 27001 compliance (with SOC 2 on the way). Manage outside counsel spend; reduced spend by over 50%.

Ciitizen is dedicated to empowering patients to use their health data for patient-directed care. Served on the executive team in different C-level roles (Legal, Finance and Talent). Oversaw strategy and execution for licensing deals, patient terms and payments, intellectual property strategy, financial operations, equity/employment issues, press relations, and various other operational needs. Co-led sale of the company to Invitae Corporation.

I headed the legal department and served on the executive team for this two-sided marketplace where consumers performed tasks, mostly in physical stores, based on client needs. Spearheaded corporate strategic changes to overhaul data collection and use; revise accounting practices around rewards; overhauled enterprise SaaS agreements; added customer engagements; created IP asset protection program. Named CEO in May 2018; turned around business; increased revenue 33% y/y; cut costs to become breakeven business; led the company through the successful acquisition and integration into Trax Retail. Served as the primary legal counsel for international enterprise SaaS company specializing in email/file archiving technology utilized for regulatory compliance (SEC, FINRA, SOX, etc.), records management, and e-discovery; successfully negotiated and drafted multiple complex outbound SaaS licensing and partnerships.

Advised executives and the senior leadership team of both PayPal and eBay regarding complex corporate matters including antitrust, consumer, and regulatory issues; drafted and reviewed IP licensing agreements and commercial agreements concerning potential litigation issues.

Lead attorney on multiple complex multi-jurisdictional lawsuits and legal issues; advised clients and partners regarding potential regulatory and litigation matters, including antitrust, consumer protection and e-discovery. Moved from Pillsbury to start Jones Day SF office with partners.
