About Dave Adams

At Amdocs, I managed a team of 5 full stack engineers to build a web application involving both frontend and backend components. The web application was part of a microservices architecture running in kubernetes within AWS, OpenStack, and OpenShift.I am a technical development manager who works closely with product owners and architects to help guide vision and ideation, requirements development, analysis, and feature breakdown, while empowering team ownership through delegation and autonomy. My passion includes both people and technology, where I contributed product code and automation side-by-side with the team. The last 5 years of my career has been an enjoyable challenge of working both remotely and in a hybrid setting, where I worked globally with >60 people in >5 product, architecture, platform, and support organizations across 10 different time-zones. To aid my team, I have leveraged my 15+ years of experience with Agile Methologies to help streamline team ceremonies, planning, development, demos, and retros. I contributed a series of utilities and frameworks as part of our automated Jenkins CI/CD: - created a tool in Python to audit 15 jenkins pipelines for cross-pipeline version traceability - developed a framework in Python to analyze and generate frontend automation coverage with 24 different areas based on executed Cypress tests - increased Cypress frontend automation coverage to over 300 tests with reproducible 95% stability- developed a tool in Python for generation and insertion of 1000's of mock-enabled test-data records in less than 1 minute into ElasticSearch for automated and manual testing- integrated Cypress automation reporting as part of Jenkins CI/CD with Python, shell scripting, maven, and webpack Away from my desk you may find me practicing karate, camping, wood working, canoeing, kayaking, scuba diving, and hiking. I love the outdoors and exploring new places.I'm always looking to grow my personal and professional network. Technical Software Development Manager | Agile | Java | Javascript | Python | Automation | Webpack

Kanata, Ontario, Canada

Promoted professionally in 2022 and became the software development manager for a team of 5 of full stack engineers. I accepted a new challenge of managing people and technology and took greater responsibility for the full product lifecycle. This role has been challenging because I wanted to excel in my new responsibilities but also wanted to protect and develop my technical skills. I feel that I have been achieving my personal goals of mentoring my team in their professional growth, continuing to expand my own experience in both front end and back end technologies while also getting greater visibility with senior management, product owners, architects, and external stakeholders.Competencies: REST | Kubernetes | Docker | SQL | Web Applications | Git | Linux | Java | Maven | JavaScript | Software Design | Python | Webpack | HTML | AWS | Public Cloud | REST | XML | JSON | JWT |OAUTH | Scrum | OpenStack | OpenShift | Microservices | Kafka | Helm | Automation | Test Analysis | Tooling | Debugging | Cypress | Junit | Selenium | Jira | BitBucket | Confluence | User Authentication | Keycloak | Security | CVE Threat Analysis and Resolution | Agile Methodologies | NoSQL | Cassandra | ElasticSearch | Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) | Requirements Analysis | Node.js

Full Stack Software Technical Lead | Agile | Java | Javascript | Python | Automation | Webpack

Kanata, Ontario, Canada

Joined a full stack product team developing React-based frontend applications and Java and Spring-Boot based backend applications as a team lead and technical expert. I got a chance to co-lead a team with a front-end technical expert which gave both of us a great opportunity to experience the other half of the full stack challenge.Developing in a full stack environment is quite challenging as it requires managing two technology universes along with automation and CI/CD. I enjoyed being in this role and expanding both technical breadth and depth while additionally getting experience with technical leadership.Promoted professionally in 2020, and accepted an opportunity to become the acting-technical software development manager for 4 months in 2022.Competencies: REST | Kubernetes | Docker | SQL | Web Applications | Git | Linux | Java | Maven | JavaScript | Software Design | Python | Webpack | HTML | AWS | Public Cloud | REST | XML | JSON | JWT | OAUTH | Scrum | OpenStack | OpenShift | Microservices | Kafka | Helm | Automation | Test Analysis | Tooling | Debugging | Cypress | Junit | Selenium | Jira | BitBucket | Confluence | Plant UML | Microsoft Teams | User Authentication | Keycloak | Security | CVE Threat Analysis and Resolution | Agile Methodologies | Cassandra | ElasticSearch | Requirements Analysis

Core Api Team Lead | Java | Gradle | Spring-Boot | Spring-Integration | Rest | Swagger | Kafka

Kanata, Ontario, Canada

I took on a completely different challenge and joined a product division focusing on Content Aggregation of Media, Television, and Movies. Vubiquity wanted to carefully transform their monolithic core applications and business processes into cloud-based microservices with an end to end event based architecture. As a Core API team lead, we developed two domain areas - Configuration and Media Asset Management. I managed planning, content breakdown, and requirements analysis, for my team of 4 backend developers. The engineering transformation approach featured a transitional layered deconstruction and integration. Both new and old systems would live together in stages until fully transitioned.I had a fun time with this experience as it exposed me to international product development, solution architecture, but also complex inter workings and business processes in a new business domain. I harnessed the 15+ years of experience with agile methodologies to improve process and development flow across 5 other cross functional teams, including leads, project managers, and architects.Competencies: REST | Kubernetes | Docker | Couchbase | Git | Linux | Java | Gradle | Software Design | AWS | Public Cloud | XML | JSON | JWT | OAUTH | Keycloak | Scrum | Microservices | Kafka | Groovy | Automation | Test Analysis | Tooling | Debugging | Junit | Selenium | Jira | Confluence | User Authentication | Keycloak | Security | Avro | Spring-Boot | Spring-Integration | Agile Methodologies | SDLC | kong api gateway | DataDog | AppDynamics

This critical experience enabled me to become a full stack engineer. The application stack included a ReactJS front-end leveraging REST APIs across multiple microservice applications written in Java and SpringBoot. The front-end application enabled users to search, inspect, explore data relationships with contextual force-directed graphs, localized views, network overlays, performance metric reports.
