Hello there! I'm John, a technology, product, and strategy leader leading security partnerships for Target Stores in the United States. I'm lucky to have great partners across our engineering leaders, security ninjas, and other BISOs who help make Target a great place to work. If you looked at my calendar on a given day, you'll probably see 50% on roadmaps, strategy, and industry research, 30% working with architects and engineers on product design and engineering enablement, and 20% on running test and learns with different teams. That includes everything from running around in Jira and pulling together a late-night PowerPoint, to shoulder surfing associates and customers to understand where their pain points are. Previously, I've run engineering, strategy, and process transformation within the cybersecurity space at one of the largest health insurance companies in the US. I'm well known for using security as a tool to push best-practice approaches as part of digital transformation, everything from Infrastructure as Code (ensures consistent and auditable configuration compliance!) to forced CI/CD pipeline use (use a pipelines and we can do security scans in line!).
