The challenge of how a brand could sell online and benefit from a direct relationship with its end users without disintermediating its channel partners was posed to Southam in 97. He immediately envisioned a solution that ultimately resulted in patents being filed for a system and method of doing business on the Internet to achieve these goals.US Patent # 6,594,641 was originally filed by Southam on April 16/99. He then founded Reshare on April 19, 1999. Between then and September 09, he acted as Chairman/CEO and Chief Strategist, leading the company through tumultuous times including the market crash resulting from 911, the telecommunications downturn and resulting economic peril, and finally the dot.com crash. Southam credits his Board Members, shareholders, vendors, advisors, friends and mother for their undying support and unfaltering belief during this difficult period.Even though a decade had passed and Reshare had not gained the traction it deserved, Southam did not surrender. Instead, he sought out and secured expert management with a proven track record of growth. These included companies in art production, industrial engineering, awards and recognition programs and marketing consultancy. Fernandez was a brilliant industrial engineer credited with creating brilliant products for BioMedicus (Medtronic), Toro, Price Pfister, ITT, GE. He was the winner of a Technical Oscar for the gyroscopic camera and the esteemed Bachner Award for the “Moist-o-Matic” water clock. I was initially retained by the Fernandez Organization to spearhead the development of a new marketing strategy, then hire and direct staff in the deployment of that strategy. However, once engaged in the organization I uncovered significant deficiencies in management and leadership. As such, my role changed from consulting management in marketing to consulting management in a complete restructuring turn-around. I levered key relationships I had with Fortune 500 companies including Dayton Hudson (Target), Carlson Companies (Radisson Hotels), SuperValu and 3M for Fernandez. Once I had completed the turn-around structuring, my attention was turned to providing consulting services focused on identifying, hiring and onboarding competent senior personnel in management, marketing and operations.
