I am currently involved with developing the Met Office Data Science Strategy, and my experience in Machine Learning coupled with scientific research / software engineering skills allows me to advise and support technologists and scientists to apply it to solve challenges in the Weather and Climate domain.In my career to date I have worked as a Scientific Software Engineer in various domains such as Digital Map Production, GIS and Weather and Climate model development. I have also worked in academia, gaining a PhD in Computational Neuroscience, and subsequently as a postdoctoral researcher in the area of Cognitive Robotics.

My particular areas of research and development include parallel I/O and visualisation and I am also applying my research skills in AI and Machine Learning to weather and climate data analysis.
