I have the ability to support diverse LGBTQI+ populations through my volunteer experience at LGBTQI+ organisations including Joy 94.9, Thorne Harbour Health, and the Positive Living Centre. I have had extensive exposure to the LGBTQI+ community through my work as a driver transporting clients to medical appointments, various volunteer roles with Thorne Harbour Health and working as a radio presenter for Joy 94.9. I have also completed relevant training with LGBTQI+ Ally Training and Suicide Prevention Training. This combined experience has given me a sound knowledge of the multiple needs of diverse populations with AOD, mental and/or physical illness, psychosocial and behavioural issues.I understand the needs, issues, and sensitivities of people from diverse backgrounds. In addition to the experience described above, I am from a diverse background myself, and I understand the stigma attached to being a socially marginalised person.I have also facilitated relapse prevention groups for Aboriginal people in Rehab through my work at The Break inc.In the past I ran my own relocations business assisting culturally and linguistically diverse migrant families to settle in Australia sourcing housing, employment, and other important social supports and resources to facilitate a comfortable transition into Australian society. This experience includes cross cultural training for my clients. As a migration agent with Immagine Immigration I travelled extensively across Southeast Asia assisting culturally and linguistically diverse clients with visa applications.
