Placed second in a competition to predict camera calibration matricies from single images. Developed a novel group-equivariant convolutional layer to exploit inherent symmetries, as well as a new loss regularization method that forces orthogonality to aid the prediction of 3D rotational poses.

Learned topics in Algebraic Topology under Prof David Gepner and Dr Aurelien Sagnier

Conducted reef ecology research. Accepted for two poster presentations and published several papers. More specifically:- Helped secure a $15,000HKD (~$2000USD) grant from the Hong Kong government and delivered a 72 page report on the ecology and diversity of sea slugs in Hong Kong. Eventually published in Zoological Studies (Fifth author, IF: ~2.1)- Discovered several undescribed species, conducted molecular and morphological study to prove that the species were novel. Published two papers describing two of the species in the peer reviewed journals ZooKeys (First author, IF: ~1.5) and Marine Biodiversity (third author, IF: ~1.7).- Invited as a referee for the journal CBM-Cahiers de Biologie Marine (IF: ~0.5) due to knowledge on corallivorous sea slugs and produced a review for a manuscript.- Explored and analyzed the co-phylogenetic relationship between coral feeding sea slugs and hard corals. Produced a 200+ page report for the International Baccalaureate that received full marks. Poster presentation on these results accepted by the 14th International Coral Reef Symposium (canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak). - Designed and performed assays to examine the effects of eutrophication and global warming on staghorn coral. Presented findings as a poster presentation at The Fourth Xiamen Symposium on Marine Environmental Sciences.- Aided and shadowed several projects: Identified and categorized several hundred Micronesian coral fragments from 200+ unique coral species for a biodiversity project, performed PCR and sequenced 50+ coral samples, manufactured stable isotope references for a study on coral trophic niches, and more.
