My professional life has been a continual attempt to integrate my diverse interests and educational background. I am an experienced communicator with the ability to listen, speak, read and write creatively, informatively and persuasively for various audiences, using various media. I remain self-directed in pursuing opportunities for growth in knowledge and skills for the betterment of the community. My primary goal remains creative collaboration. Xavier University provided a thorough background in all aspects of composition and theatrical production, motivating me to continue to instruct and perform after graduation. While assigned a religious studies teaching position, I capitalized on many opportunities to expand my responsibilities to include theater education. Whether through the augmentation of a standard curriculum or seeking to educate a larger community through performance, my focus has always been on formation of students through creative experience. As a middle school language arts teacher, I served as drama coach and co-directed two spring musicals. While teaching at Gilmour, I assisted students in writing original material for performance as a proctor for an extra-curricular club. In addition, I have welcomed every opportunity to lead workshops on improvisation as an extension of my studies in that art form. I recognize the joy of the educational process and the promise of a finished product in a creative medium that requires voice, body and imagination – the engagement of the entire person.
