I lead multi-disciplined design departments and project teams focused on customer experience, brand building, environments and communications. I bring curiosity and process to unknowns and apply empathetic design thinking and creativity to valuable problems. Highlights of my work include a few world’s firsts: I developed the first live animated web cam for Dilbert, a popular comic strip and television show in the United States; Launched two of the world’s first online platforms of their kind with a peer-to-peer global marketplace and online survey tool in the late 90’s; And created the world’s largest interactive array of iPads for a community wall and exhibit for a Swiss-based events company. Other project work has included the design of toilet paper and consumer products for P&G and Rubbermaid; new branding systems for Li-Ning and Ottawa CFL & NASL sports teams; events and guest experiences for Holiday Inn, Citi, Boeing and the Edmonton Oilers Hockey Arena; technology platforms for GE Healthcare, Chicago Cubs and Texas Instruments; integrated campaigns and communications for Apple, Capital One and Microsoft; and customer experiences and services for Citi, AARP and Thermo Fisher.I’ve worked with countless B2B and B2C brands crafting meaningful experiences deeply rooted in story, so it’s only natural that my personal life reads a bit more like the pages of an adventure book than that of a typical designer. As a photo journalist I went to Egypt during the 2011 revolution and imbedded with an NGO in Iraq in the waning days of ISIS, and hiked all 2650 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail which was uniquely documented in a viral video. Each adventure I’ve undertaken adds to my process, allowing me to draw from a deep well of experience (and empathy) when solving valuable design problems and building brands that people love.
