Harbin, Shenzhen And Beijing China

For six months I worked as a live in private English Tutor for four separate Chinese families. The first two families I lived with for a month each in Harbin in Northeastern China. I then spent two and a half months in Shenzhen in southern China, before moving on to work with a family in Beijing for a month and a half.

I was in charge of outfitting the University of British Columbia's Track and Field, and Cross Country teams. As part of my work I ordered, arranged, and helped to choose the team's uniforms.

As team captain I was responsible to arrange and coordinate various team events. I was also responsible for helping the coaches to distribute information to my fellow teammates. I used my time as captain to bring our team closer together, and to help my fellow teammates with school or other issues so that they could preform their best on the track, and in school.

As part of my job I helped recruit high school athletes to become members of the UBC Track and Field Speed and Power team. I was responsible for communication with possible athletes, tours, and various other recruitment events to try to bring the top athletes to the team.

I coached boys grades 3-7 on hurdles. This required practice multiple times a week working on form and skill. Each session had between ten to thirty boys. The boys all required varying levels of coaching. These were adjusted per age level and student.

I started as a part time hurdle coach, but moved up to a full time assistant coach. Over the years I worked there I helped to craft work outs, run warm ups, and to help students with their running form. I worked both with hurdlers on hurdle techniques. I also worked flat sprinters on form, strength, and speed.

Lyantonde Uganda

While in Uganda I was in charge of recording the various events, activities, daily work and impact of the organization had on the Lyantonde community. These clips were then assembled into short videos that attempted showcase the work of the organization in a way that could be used for promotional purposes. The rest of the footage is kept as archival material for possible use at a later date.
