April Dumas-Gray is a vibrant woman changing the face of higher education access in Chicago. With a goal of improving the quality of preparation for college and career training as well as exposure for youth, April has developed several programs and activities tailored to the needs of inner-city students. Through generous support from several corporate sponsors, she has taken over 1,000 students on themed college tours such as the Ivy League, HBCU, West Coast, and Midwest college tours where they have impressed all whom they encounter. April is very active in the vitality of Chicago communities. As a mentor to girls and young women, she presents workshops and shares life experiences to remove the psychological glass ceilings often placed over the heads of African American and Latinx girls. An alumna of Temple University in Philadelphia, April attended North Park University where she received professional certificates in Nonprofit Management.April is a member of several service-minded organizations including Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and the American Council of Catholic Women.
