After graduating with a Masters degree in Pharmacy from Strathclyde University, I went on to manage a Rowlands Pharmacy in Springburn. My co-manager was a friend from University- Karim Nassar. We were passionate about patient care and business and went on to establish our own community pharmacies.We both came from a mindset of wanting to make our families proud, especially knowing the difficulties they had faced. My father would leave at 6am every morning to go to work at his humble grocery store and return late at night, 7 days a week. I remember helping him at weekends and throughout my school & university holidays. It was a formative experience, a tough gig thanks to some difficult locals. That really stayed with me. Apart from the hard work and long hours, I also saw the impact a person can make in a community.After completing a Supplementary Prescribing qualification, I opened Logan Pharmacy in 2009 to help a small village population that had high deprivation and lower prospects than its neighbours. I saw the value of the personal, caring service we were delivering, especially considering I was an outsider; I became a trusted member of their community. I then established Logan Pharmaceuticals. It is an MHRA licensed UK-based pharmaceutical wholesaler, distributor and exporter of branded and generic medicines, dressings, medical devices and surgical supplies worldwide. By doing so I gained an invaluable insight and understanding of medicines supply chain. Appreciating the impact and success of Logan Pharmacy on improving health outcomes in its locality, I opened Calderbank Pharmacy as a new contract in 2010. The pharmacy quickly established itself as a focal point for the whole community. Knowing that we had something good in a community setting, and by identifying the pain points in our patients’ healthcare journeys, Karim and I decided to join forces and establish Simple Online Pharmacy in 2015. We aimed to bridge the gap between the personal service of community pharmacy and the convenience of online. By having a shared vision, our small operation has now grown to a team of over 70 employees, offering Online Doctor and NHS services in the UK. We have expanded into the Australian and German online healthcare markets and have acquired Dr Felix as our second UK Online Doctor brand.Our Vision at Simple is to dispense a friendly, personal, and world-class service to patients across the globe. Thinking back to the lessons I learned from my late father, I aim to fulfil this vision through hard work and determination.
