The NYU Social Sector Leadership Diversity Fellowship (SSLD) is an 18-month leadership development program that supports NYU’s BIPOC graduate students in leveraging their skills, knowledge and networks to influence positive change in the social sector.

• Delved into adaptive learning technologies based on learning theories to personalize learning experiences according to individual progress, resulting in improved learning outcomes and heightened user engagement by collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on projects, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality products• Implemented accessible UXD principles to promote inclusive learning materials that cater to learners by drawing on the knowledge of cross-cultural learning preferences and challenges to develop content with universal appeal, resonating with an international audience

• Applied analytical and creative skills to dissect complex aspects of the Korean language, including grammar, pronunciation, and cultural nuances, by breaking down elements into digestible components, enhancing comprehension and assessment for a group of over 15 adult learners, primarily English speakers, with varying language backgrounds• Ventured into innovative pedagogical approaches, such as generative AI, gamification, flipped classrooms, and microlearning, to craft dynamic learning experiences by employing data analytics and assessment outcomes that honed captivating curricula and engagement strategies according to learner performance and preferences

America Reads and Counts at NYU is the largest America Reads and Counts program in the nation.

• Spearheaded a team of seven grade-level educators, streamlining communication and overseeingadministrative, parental, and student interactions for over 160 fourth-grade students• Partnered with 15 ILT members to revamp the school’s approach to curriculum and community programming by honoring the resilience of students of color, English Learners, and Bilingualstudents• Facilitated daily dialogues between school administrators and teachers to foster student-ledinstruction, promoting resilience and encouraging problem-solving and social thinking skills through collaborative peer interactions

• Created and taught rigorous and culturally responsive curricula for a group of over 25 English Learners annually, with emphasis on student efficacy and adaptable teaching practices to meet individual needs• Identified areas of growth to close the achievement gap for English Learners by integrating in-person and online learning and parental support programs, resulting in a 99% exit rate in the program through ACCESS in the Winter of 2022• Elevated student performance by synergizing quantitative and qualitative data, holistically analyzing student outcomes and individualized learning styles, resulting in a 20% surge in Star 360 Reading and Math scores from Fall 2021 to Spring 2022

• Mentored a cohort of six Chicago Public Schools teacher leaders through guided problem-solving aptitudes to execute their initiatives in transforming instruction and culture• Conducted monthly meetings for teacher leaders to carry out their action plans by providing training on communication skills and coaching sessions

• Engineered a comprehensive protocol and refined the hiring process to attract a pool of multilingual educators to bolster the recruitment of teachers from various backgrounds, improving the representation of teachers of color within the organization• Constructed a comprehensive digital instructional guide for schools in Illinois to educate multilingual students effectively and directed cohort meetings to prepare general education teachers to expand their understanding of bilingual education practices

• Educated over 25 Illinois teachers and school leaders on remote learning during COVID-19 to in partnership with four teacher leaders through online communication platforms for three months daily• Initiated a statewide policy proposal recommending tuition waivers totaling $16,300 for candidates enrolling in degree programs, actively promoting the pursuit of English Learner and Bilingual certifications• Researched the development of funding priorities for state representatives and education organizations on supporting policy issues such as teacher shortages, recruitment and retention of teachers of color, and social-emotional needs of students

• Elevated expertise by mentoring aspiring school leaders serving low-income school communities, empowering them to inspire students to view education as a powerful tool for enriching their prospects• Championed opportunities for educators from misrepresented backgrounds to pursue leadership roles, advocating for greater representation of teachers of color in school leadership positions that authentically reflect their students and community constituents

• Presented at "The 2022 University of Chicago Summer Institute for Educators: The Global Rise of Disinformation in Times of Conflict" to coach teachers about digital education resources to explore the relationship between disinformation, misinformation, and urban community conflicts with their students• Collaborated with renowned journalists and dedicated staff from the Pulitzer Center to develop a curriculum unit that bridges local contexts with global issues, fostering an understanding of different perspectives within and beyond the classroom• Trained teachers and instructional coaches to encourage integrating underreported news from the media into their lessons to meet the educational needs of a diverse student population

• Piloted the College Readiness and Success Program that encourages 40+ EL students to adapt and preserve a strong college-going culture• Led multiple EL-centric professional development presentations to district staff• Developed and supported all facets of IEP implementation, including parental support with translations and interpretations of IEP-related materials• Problem-solved with classroom teachers, resource teachers, and administrators in addressing instructional and classroom strategies through RTI and MTSS processes

• Supported the EL instruction of an assigned caseload of 120+ students while tailoring their individual needs to the demands of the curriculum• Tutored Title 1 & Title 3 after-school programs to provide additional, goal-focused support to students • Assisted supervising teachers with classroom activities, behavior management, and other non-instructional classroom duties

• Trained with Fellows, Teachers of Distinction, and Teaching Scholars of the Golden Apple Academy regarding social-emotional, personalized, and trauma-informed learning• Taught at schools-of-need with lead teachers in urban, rural, and suburban settings across the state of Illinois

• Fostered opportunity for high school and college-aged students participating in the Fighting Youth Shouting Out for Humanity (FYSH) Council• Initiated the DREAM Act, now known as DACA, in Illinois to serve the interests of the marginalized communities (e.g., immigrants, minors, and low-income families)
