I collaborated with scientists and researchers in international labs studying the genetic and scientific pathways and effects of rice blast disease, as well as the economic implications of its spread. Through my research I formulated and standardized a novel method of finger millet sheath inoculation which was adopted as best practice by the lab. I assisted a PhD candidate with data collection and manuscript production for publication, cultivated finger millet and rice plants in a growth chamber, maintained spore growths, utilized Zen black and Zen blue software for microscopy and research data management, and produced time-lapse photography of infection spread.
