Dr Adelbert Bronkhorst, born 1 January 1958, received his masters degree in experimental physics in 1982 from the University of Amsterdam and his PhD in 1990 from the medical faculty of the Vrije Universiteit (VU) in Amsterdam.He was employed as a clinical audiologist and deputy head of the Audiological Department at the VU Medical Center from 1983 to 1989. Subsequently, he went to TNO in Soesterberg, where he worked as researcher, group leader, department head, research manager and business line manager. In 2000, he was granted a fellowship at the Hanse Wissenschaft Kolleg in Germany, where he performed research in collaboration with Oldenburg University. From 2005-2020 he was professor by special appointment at the Cognitive Psychology department of the VU. He is currently Principal Scientist and Director of Science in the TNO Defence, Safety and Security unit. Specialties: human factors, management of defence and security related research
