I am currently employed on a casual basis, but previously worked 5 years in a full-time role. I have worked at Epworth Geelong since it opened in July 2016, where until March 2017, I was the only full-time AHA in the hospital. I have worked in hospital inpatient rehabilitation, inpatient medical acute and outpatient rehabilitation, supporting numerous areas of allied health including occupational therapy, dietetics, exercise physiology, social work, speech pathology, psychology and physiotherapy. I predominantly worked in inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation assisting the physiotherapy department in facilitating 1:1 and group based therapy sessions. More specifically, my role has included, but is not limited to:• Directly assisting in the provision of therapeutic procedures and activities in a group and/or individual setting, including:- Inpatient Physiotherapy- neurological, orthopaedic, reconditioning exercise sessions; - Outpatient Physiotherapy- orthopaedic, falls and balance, cardiac and Parkinson’s rehabilitation programs and hydrotherapy - Inpatient Occupational therapy - pain management relaxation, breakfast group, light-meal and domestic living preparation, upper-limb therapy, brain training (cognitive and memory exercises);- Speech Therapy- 1:1 Reading and writing activities, including iPad programs• Supervision and training of AHA staff;• Assist in developing procedures and processes for allied health department, specifically, developing AHA roles and responsibilities. • Sourcing and ordering clinical and administrative allied health equipment through ‘Technology One’ system;• General administration tasks, including ‘Medical File’ and ‘BOSSnet’ entries and weekly cleaning responsibilities.
