Having been a nurse for more than 30 years, I have gained a wealth of experience working across a range of care settings including hospitals, schools, clinics and in the community. A substantial part of my career has been within a managerial position, leading teams in developing and delivering care packages for individuals with complex care in the community. I am currently the Registered Manager working with Superior Healthcare and form part of the senior management team. Overseeing both adult and paediatric divisions, I work with a very talented and experienced team of Senior Nurses and Nurse Managers to deliver exceptional care at home to individuals with long term health conditions. My responsibilities include making sure the service delivery is of a high standard, driving improvements through change, and I take pride in providing a highly safe, caring, effective, and responsive service.I can say there is nothing more challenging or rewarding than delivering expert care to individuals, to allow them to stay living safely at home. Working in the community at this level requires confidence in both your own your abilities and in your colleagues. Complex care is an environment that demands exceptional clinical skills and continuing, ongoing training across a broad range of conditions. The challenge is in working independently, providing a high level of care to a client in their home, without the luxury of support from doctors and expert teams found in a hospital setting.Every person is different, and every home is different. We work tirelessly to create care packages that puts the individual and their needs and wishes first, whatever the hurdles. From working with children in the family home, to students travelling between university and home and also adults with a diverse range of requirements, we tailor the care package around the client to help them achieve their personal goals and ambitions.Working in healthcare, we all know, can be a hugely challenging arena, especially in recent times of Covid-19 for one, and you have to wear many hats, juggle many plates, and keep smiling in order to maintain your resilience – but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
