When I think of the copious amount of years in People & HR directorates up to and including Director level, I have to laugh…when did all that happen? I have enjoyed an interesting career path from grafting on a Brighton fairground to being self employed in catering to varied industries including Royal Mail, Care, Freight Rail, Social Housing and Charity. What I love about People (HR) is the constant transformation and learning…but oh my days have I dealt with some incredible and challenging situations…balanced with the wonderful day to day working with people that matter. My advice? Do the right thing & not the easy thing, protect your wellbeing from people who don’t have you as a priority and assume the best from people but don’t hesitate to call them out if you’re being taken advantage of…makes life much easier in the long run.
