I am a primary art consultant helping schools, MATs, ITT providers and education partnerships devise and deliver high quality art and design experiences in their settings. I provide subject leader support, curriculum consultancy, lesson design advice, staff meetings, workshops, conference presentations and training on any aspect of the primary school art curriculum. I also provide resource content creator services. I have created educational resources for numerous clients including the BBC, Penguin, Team GB, Birds Eye, the Premier League, British Gas and more. I love writing; you’ll often find articles by me in Teach Primary magazine and I’m excitedly working on my second book which is out this year with John Catt Education, ‘Primary Art in Action’.A little bit more about me …I was a classroom based primary school teacher for 23 years. I have taught art across the whole primary spectrum and have had class responsibilities in EYFS and KS1. I was art lead at my school for many years, a role which I loved and fulfilled to a high standard; always going over and above to ensure the subject maintained a high profile amongst our school community. During lockdown I created outdoor learning art boards which I shared freely on my Twitter account (mrs_darl). These boards were used by hundreds of schools countrywide and raised my profile on the education scene. To date these art boards have been downloaded over 30,000 times! In 2022 I had my first book published with Bloomsbury ‘100 Ideas for Primary Teachers: Art’ which has just been shortlisted for its first award! I’m nearing completion of my second title, ‘Primary Art in Action’ due to be released in 2025.
