Profile bio

About Adele Hilliard

I attained my DVM from the University of Georgia in May 2014. I plan to devote my career to providing highly quality, affordable veterinary care, forming strong bonds with my clients and their pets. My career began at Banfield Veterinary Hospital where I was engaged as a paid veterinary technician. That first-hand experience led me to enroll at Clemson University whose animal/veterinary science program boasts a novel approach that sends students into the field as freshmen. Over the next four years, I gained valuable hands-on experience. Additionally, I was privileged to work with another rescue organization, Diamond in the Ruff, where I paid special attention to abused animals and which provided meaningful involvement into the business side of such organizations. Additionally, I was hired as a research assistant to determine the psychological and biological effects of caged poultry production as opposed to free-range. At the University of Georgia Veterinary Medicine doctoral program, I participated as a member of the University’s Canine Club and Shelter Medicine Club, in whose name I have worked with fellow students and the public at large, in the promotion, education and implementation of shelter programs and policies. Overall I have more than 19 years of experience involving the care, diagnosis, and treatment of multiple species of animals within multiple settings. Since graduation I have been blessed to work as an Associate Veterinarian at both a general practice and a shelter/low cost. I have also worked in relief and aided Scheduled Relief. This company connects relief veterinarians and veterinary clinics nationwide. I also had an amazing opportunity to work with 24/7 Pet Help Line. I have also worked in the corporate sector. I continue to be extremely passionate about community outreach and client education. Currently I am working as an associate veterinarian at a private practice where I am excited to really take part in educating and helping my community. Very soon I will be working solely as a behaviorist working towards my speciality in behavior in South Carolina.
