I practised Statutory Social Work for three years. I learned about different cultures and individual functioning within these environmental systems. The importance of support and constant feedback and communication to improve and motivate individuals to be the best version of themselves. Communicating with individuals from different ethnic and status groups does not only demand language flexibility but also observation in terms of non-verbal que's, I have become interested in body language and behavioural analysis thereof. Prioritizing, planning and listening is a crucial part in working within this environment and patience, empathy and non-judgemental attitude is a priority personality trait. I learned about the importance of self-improvement and continuous development. I have obtained the ability to assess and evaluate different situations and information given to me. Stress management and work-life balance is key to surviving within this industry. Administration and project management formed a big part within my day-to-day activities, between scheduled groups, individual sessions and meetings. Planning and organizing my diary was important as well as being open and comfortable with the possibility of crises management. My work resume does not solely include Social Work as I have been employed since the age of 15years and worked various jobs in the restaurant industry. I have a passion and dedication working with people of all ethnicities, ages and social standing. I have been living in Mauritius for almost 3 years now. I have taken this time to focus on managing our household and furthering my studies. I have done various short courses, some accredited and some not. And I am currently busy completing my TEFL course.
