Algae cultivation (main role)- Culturing T Isochrysis galbana, Diacronema lutheri, Chaetoceros calcitrans, Chaetoceros muelleri and Rhodomonas salina - Prepare medium for algae growth and ensure sterile culture media through an autoclave machine- Transferring of algae with laminar flow cabinet for sterile environment - Daily swirling of algal flask to disperse algae and thorough mixing of nutrients in media- Observing under compound microscope and recording of algae cell count and condition like bacterial signs and algae clumping at least fortnightly for ensuring healthy algae production and detect factors such as pH levels and temperature change- Recent: Making nutrient agar and testing the algae for bacterial contamination Hatchery management:- Broodstock management: calculating algal feed, weeks-long conditioning in constant water temperature to produce mature oysters and spawning at least twice a month depending on brood and larvae conditions- Oyster larvae husbandry: proper hygiene conduct for larvae tanks and hatchery environment, algae feeding and pulling of tanks to collect oyster larvae to be looked under a compound microscope for larvae population counting and observations on the growth and anatomical changes of oyster larvae at different stages through body size measuring and picture taking, daily recording of oyster larvae condition- Administrative supportive role: writing emails at least once per week to update company’s general manager and attend team meetings during the absence of hatchery managerFarm husbandry:- Tidying the farm area at least once a week such as washing used screens, folding shade cloth and stacking bags and baskets orderly for an organised and effective working environment - Sorting oysters to send bags of oyster for growth, to shuck oysters with over-catch and to separate dead oysters- Tipping oysters from modules to different bag types depending on their sizes and shapes to produce the best consumer traits
