I started my work career as a CNA many years ago at a nursing home in Mystic, CT. It was about 2005. From there I worked at several other facilities; I spent a lot of time in both acute, and long term units, as well as some time on a locked dementia/Alzheimer's unit. I truly enjoyed the patients I worked with, and they liked me too. I'm very empathetic and compassionate. I don't mind taking an extra minute to help a patient struggling with something if they need it. In moderation of course, there were other patients waiting to be assisted. I successfully concluded an EMT course at Hartford Hospital in about 2013, but unfortunately never passed the written section of the state test, however recently i've been working to be a volunteer fire fighter for the town of Portland, and i've completed almost all of the FEMA certifications for that, but have been thinking recently it may be best to volunteer in another town, so i've been holding off finishing them. I had children, and was looking for a change, so I took a job in sales, and did very well. I was one of the top performers for the company, and stayed for a long time. This taught me customer service skills, computer skills, retentions skills, organization. I decided i wanted to go back to school, and since I left sales, I went to Middlesex Community College, then transferred to, and have been attending Southern CT university with a major in STEM nursing. I volunteer for a cat rescue, I received several scholarships when I was at Middlesex, and even the Deans list. I'm a fast learner, and can adapt to any environment quickly.
