Adele Zeynep Walton is a British Turkish journalist and lived experience campaigner, specialising in the human impacts of digital technology, social media and Big Tech. She is the author of Logging Off: The Human Cost of Our Digital World, which publishes with Trapeze in March 2025.As a freelance journalist Adele has written for The Independent, the i, Dazed, i-D, VICE, Metro, The Big Issue, Jacobin, Open Democracy, Tribune, Huck, gal-dem, The New Arab and more. Her articles have been translated into Brazilian Portuguese, German, Italian, Swedish, Turkish and Spanish, and she has featured on LBC Radio, Sky News, BBC Radio Scotland and Channel 4 News. She is also a fellow with Connected By Data. Between 2023-2024 Adele was DAZED's first ever political book columnist, where she has interviewed authors including Naomi Klein, Emma Dabiri, Vicky Spratt and more. As a lifelong lover of books, she has collaborated on digital content with a range of publishers to promote political education amongst young people, including Verso Books, Pluto Press, SquarePeg, Left Book Club, Headline, Penguin and more. Adele is a strong advocate of using social media strategically to gain support for progressive causes and mobilising young people. She has over 14,000 followers and 600,000 likes on TikTok. As a Content Strategist, Adele has a vast range of expertise in digital communications and PR, both in a freelance and in-house capacity, specialising in progressive communications and campaigns. Charity work includes being Press Officer for Oxfam, Training Assistant for Friends, Families and Travellers, and volunteering with Amnesty, VSO, Wateraid, The World Transformed and Roma Support Group.Adele is a First Class graduate in International Development from the University of Sussex with a Placement Year in Turkey, where she worked as Social Media Manager for two NGOs.
