After an 8 eight stint in London I returned to Ireland in the middle of the big recession. I had been nursing the idea of opening a bridal store for years prior, and there is nothing like necessity to force invention as they say. Not having work, and being unable to find it lent me the drive and ambition to make work for myself. So began Smartbrides, a store for brides who needed a 'better value' solution to what is usually the very expensive process of purchasing a wedding dress. From the moment brides walked through our doors they were treated to first attention and service but without the crazy price tag. It was a surprise to both myself and my business partner that SB garnered the attention that it did in a relatively short space of time. Within months, we had been featured in several Irish wedding publications, newspapers and even made a TV appearance where we were interviewed about SB's success. Fast forward five years and one move abroad, it became harder and harder to give Smartbrides the attention it deserved. So the tough decision was made to sell it on, but not before it had won Irish Bridal Store of the Year for 2017!Roles: - Dealing with all aspects of e-commerce, including website design and all associated content, including maintenance of a social media presence. - Communicating with vendors/production to ensure on-time order delivery and following up on late orders - Chief buyer with vendor/production communication by following up on orders, samples and product development chain.- Preparation, maintenance and distribution of weekly/monthly accounts reporting. - Leading bridal gown/bridesmaid consultations - Style advising, dressing customers, advising customers on sizing and potential alterations, recommending accessories and added extras, closing sales.- Attending fashion shows, bridal fairs and other related events to develop new business.- Responsible for hiring of staff and ongoing training.
