Adèle has completed her PhD which examined the identity, role and place of teachers of languages in New Zealand schools. She currently works for the Post Primary Teachers' Association (PPTA) as an Advisory Officer based in the National Office in Wellington.Previous roles/experience include:* Being responsible for the languages programmes at New Zealand's largest distance education school Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura, The Correspondence School) for four and a half years. In that time over 270 modules (7-10 lessons each module, across 26 courses and seven languages), have been developed for the online environment. A brand new Sāmoan language course has been introduced at NCEA levels 1 and 2. *Senior Lecturer in secondary education and language teacher education (languages other than English) at the College of Education of Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand for 19 years. Adèle taught in the initial teacher education programme for secondary, but also developed the teaching of the languages component for the primary programme. * Language Teaching experience (Japanese and French) spans schools in both New Zealand and Australia. * Past President of the New Zealand Association of Language Teachers (NZALT) and ongoing involvement in curriculum and assessment development for languages in New Zealand. * One of five writers contracted by the Ministry of Education to write the Learning Languages learning area for the New Zealand Curriculum released in 2007.
