Working across the entire software development lifecycle and covering everything from database design to front end layout, mostly using C# ASP.Net MVC, with some ASP.Net WebForms, LAMP and a small amount of classic ASP.Migration of site search from MySQL to Lucene Solr, overhaul of email delivery sub-system, advising on best practice, rewrites and performance improvements to several internal workflow processes, liaising with the product team in order to identify new project and to improve the quality of delivered software, consulting with other developers/teams to provide architectural oversight, communicating directly with stakeholders, mentoring junior developers and working with LAMP developers to improve the quality of the delivered code.

Working with a small team of software developers on a rewrite and upgrade of an earlier site, from PHP to C# ASP.Net MVC. Complete overhaul of the site search code to enhance performance as well as allowing significant changes to be made more rapidly and with lower risk of introducing new issues. Promotion of TDD across the entire company. Refactoring and performance improvements to large areas of code in order to improve re-usability and ensure adherence to OOP principles. Mentoring of some team members in order to improve the quality and consistency of their code. Working with the product team to ensure that specifications contained sufficient information to allow rapid development and to reduce the amount of time that I & my team members had to spend in meetings.

Worked with a couple of teams within RM, initially joining a small team to work on an internal monitoring and management tool for a web filtering product used to protect schoolchildren from the wilds of the internet. With my help the project moved from being severely behind schedule to slightly ahead of the project plan in a matter of a few weeks.After this I moved to working with the data centre team on modifying their existing code to work with an open global standard for real time data transfer. Work involved reading and interpreting third party specification documents, liaising with the architectural team to discuss implementation details, documenting the planned approach and implementing using C#, BizTalk, SQL Server & XSLT.

Working on a new development of a social networking platform using C# and ASP.Net, covering the entire software development lifecycle and ranging from database structure to front end layout, functionality and styling. Also worked on a range of WPF controls for a related desktop application, which communicated with the data layer via WCF services.
