In Engineering, the use of pure metals are not appreciated because of their low strength. This gave rise to the need for stronger and more durable materials for engineering use. Steel is one of the materials used in the Engineering world. It is an alloy of Iron and Carbon.Interning at African Steel Mills was a very educative and interesting experience. I was able to put my theoretical knowledge into practice. During my period of Internship, I engaged in melting and casting of Steel, rolling of the steel billets to rods of different diameters. I supervised the quality control procedures in ensuring that the finished products are good enough for market consumption. I also carried out spectrometry analysis. I inspected the rolling mill plant ensuring that all machineries are in good shape and ready to be used.Material Science and Engineering rule the world!!
